CENTRAL OREGON GOLF GUIDE - 2008
I can’t believe it’s all in the rear view mirror already, 2007 was a memorable year on the golf course in more ways than one. The Jeld-Wen Tradition at Sunriver Resort produced a fantastic event that put Central Oregon on the national media stage once again as a premier destination for golf vacations. The long and successful running Northwest Dodge Dealers Pacific Amateur experienced its largest field to date, with over 800 participants competing on Central Oregon’s finest golf courses. Also, the Ghost Tree Invitational at Pronghorn drew over 55 four-person golf teams from all over the west coast and exceeded 1200 people at the Dinner on the Range. The list can go on and on, but one thing is certain, golfers are still coming to Central Oregon more than ever to play our world-class golf courses.

Golf tourism in Central Oregon continues to be the dominant force in terms of bringing in tourists for outdoor recreation to our area. The landscape for the 2008 season looks even brighter, thanks to a host of tournaments headed to our region along with the mainstays.

It’s no wonder that when the annual Pacific Northwest PGA Oregon Open is held in Central Oregon, attendance at the event is stronger than any other location. The pro’s love to bring their families along when playing in this event and stay for the entire week taking some vacation time, so this year’s host is Aspen Lakes Golf Course. In addition, the OGA has selected Bend Golf and Country Club as the host facility of the 99th Annual Men’s and Women’s Oregon Amateur. On the development side, Tetherow and Remington Ranch are getting closer to debuting their much-anticipated golf courses designed by some of the industries best.

In a world where many are complaining about national market trends or concerned about the future, Central Oregon has reason to celebrate. The local golf tourism market is strong and is showing more teeth for 2008. We live in one of the most beautiful and sought after golf destination markets in the world (#23 in the world by Golf Digest). Whether or not you belong to a private club, you can play the game you love on some of the finest golf courses that will challenge every aspect of your game. How many cities/communities across the country with less than 100,000 people can boast that they have this many quality golf courses to choose from, both public and private? Few, if any.

Get out there and enjoy this great game and enjoy the 2008 Edition of the Central Oregon Golf Guide. I hope it helps you plan your next vacation to our great community or acts as a reference for you throughout the year when you need a quick phone number or website to make a tee time. The Golf Guide is designed to simply act as a mirror that reflects the diversity and quality of our golf community in Central Oregon.
